Community Highlights (2012): The Saskatchewan Ministry of First Nations and Metis Relations, with help of the Ministry of the Economy conducted a snapshot in 2012 of the key components of communities, including: local government, demographics, economic environment, training and education, infrastructure, housing, emergency services, recreational opportunities, and the community's distance from larger centres.
FireSmart Community (2005): The Saskatchewan Government Ministry of Environment encourages communities to actively practice FireSmart principles that reduce the likelihood of fires within municipality. Many of our northern communities are surrounded by boreal forests so the impact of wildfires or forest fires are often high.
Weight Classification (2012): Every year the Saskatchewan Government Ministry of Highways and Infrastructure produces a map of Saskatchewan that outlines the amount of weight vehicles can carry on highways within the province. This information is important to our Northern communities because it effects access, resource extraction and removal, and receiving essential goods needed for daily living.
PLEDCO Strategic Plan (2013): The Primrose Lake Economic Development Corporation is based out of Beauval, SK. The Corporation's vision for the future is to be a "driving force in the economy of North West Region" of Saskatchewan, through the promotion of economic development. An advocate of regional collaboration, this document provides their strategic plan that was determined in 2013.
