What To Do BEFORE
  • For more information on how to prevent and prepare for wildfires in and around your yard visit the SPSA website.
  • Adopt the FireSmart principles for your home and community
  • What to do before: protect your home, educate your household and prepare yourself.
  • You can protect members of your household and your property by learning more about wildfires and by taking proper precautions. Make sure that you:
  • Prepare your emergency kit. Learn more about what items to put in your kit, including quick and easy steps you can take right away
  • Make a household emergency plan. Consider the specific needs of all members of your household, including older adults, children, pets, and anyone with special health needs 
  • Find and review your community response plan - Do your part! Find and know your community’s action plans related to emergencies and be prepared to respond if required.
  • ​Ensure house numbering/civic address information is clearly visible from roadways to aid first responders and personnel
  • Download Alertable and SaskAlerts to receive timely information
What to do DURING
  • During a wildfire: Stay calm. Know what to do.
  • Be ready to evacuate
    • Make sure that your vehicle is fully fueled. If evacuated, stopping to refuel could be difficult depending on your region or distances
    • Check on elderly relatives and neighbours to see if they require assistance
    • If you need assistance, place a help sign in your window
