Assessment Notices
Q: What is an assessment notice?
A: The Assessment Notice is the official notice of the assessed value of your property as determined by Saskatchewan Assessment Management Agency (SAMA).
Q: Why did I get an assessment notice?
A: You are either the new owner or the assessed values on the property have changed.
Q: How is the assessment value calculated?
A: The assessment values come from SAMA-the assessment provider. Call SAMA at 1-800-498-0576 for details.
Q: What do I do with this notice?
A: Please review the assessment values, assessment classification, and all other information on this notice. If you have any questions regarding this notice or the assessment values, you may contact SAMA at 1-800-498-0576. If you believe there are errors in the assessment values, you may lodge an appeal.

Q: When do I need to have my appeal in by?
A: September 22, 2023 is the final day to appeal. Your appeal must be received by Northern Municipal Services by 5pm Saskatchewan time to be accepted.
Q: Is there a cost to appealing?
A: $50 per appeal. Funds will be refunded if appeal is successful or withdrawn.
Q: Who is the appeal fee payable to?
A: Northern Municipal Trust Account
Q: How can I send in my appeal?
A: Mail, Fax, or Email ([email protected]) and make sure to send in $50 payment with each appeal. (ex: If you have two separate properties, the fee is $50 for each, totalling $100.)

A: SAMA View is a website where you can:
• Verify your property assessment information;
• Compare your assessment to similar or neighboring properties;
• Let SAMA know about changes to your property; and,
• Get a general idea of assessed values in your municipality

Your Assessment Notice and your Tax Notice are two different things. Your property taxes are calculated as follows:
Net Taxable Assessment x Mill Rate (Municipal & School) = Property Taxes

•Municipal Mill Rates are set by the municipality. School Mill Rates are set by the Province.
