Northern Hamlet of Weyakwin


The Northern Hamlet of Weyakwin is located along Highway two, almost halfway between the municipalities of La Ronge, SK and Prince Albert, SK.  This adorable community has a population of 49 people, and is actively engaged in planning for their future.

Under the Planning for Growth North program, Weyakwin adopted their Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw, which came into effect on March 3, 2017.

Official Community Plan (2015) - The Official Community Plan, complete with the Future Land Use map, was adopted by Council, after which it received Ministerial Approval and came into force on March 3, 2017.

Wildfire Risk Assessment (2005): The Saskatchewan Ministry of Environment actively attempts to educate residents about the threat of fire within municipalities.  They conducted an assessment of each municipality to determine the likelihood of wildfires, and implement FireSmart principles to help reduce the chances of wildfires starting.
