Development in the Lac La Ronge Planning Area (LLRPA) 

OFFICIAL COMMUNITY PLAN & ZONING BYLAW:
The Lac La Ronge Planning Area Official Community Plan and Zoning Bylaw regulate development within the Lac La Ronge Planning Area. Click here for a list of communities included in the planning area and map.

DEVELOPMENT PERMITS:
When landowners, residents, or developers want to build, alter or change the use of any development, a development permit application form must be submitted for approval before construction or the start of a new use. Applications can be dropped off in-person at the Northern Municipal Services office in La Ronge, mailed, or emailed to the Development Officer (
contact information at the end of this page). Upon payment of the processing fee, a decision on your development permit application will be sent to you. Decisions are based on conformance with the Zoning Bylaw.

Home-based business/Bed & breakfast operations: Home-based and bed and breakfast businesses are a discretionary use in the Lac La Ronge Planning Area and must be approved by the Clerk of the District. Submit the following application form to the Development Officer (contact information at the end of this page).​

BUILDING PERMITS:
While the Lac La Ronge Planning Area does not have a building bylaw, all building owners are responsible for complying with all legislated building, safety, accessibility and energy standards. Click here for more information on Codes and Standards.

REQUIRED BUILDING FORMS:
The following forms are required to be submitted:
  1. Notice of Intent to Build: section 7 of The Construction Codes Act requires the owner of a building to be constructed/added onto to notify the municipality of certain information.
  2. SAMA Property Data Confirmation Form: under subsections 222(1) and (4) of The Northern Municipalities Act, 2010, a building owner is required to submit any information requested by an assessor for valuation purposes. Failure to provide requested information will affect the property owner's right to appeal (subsections 223(1,5,6) The Northern Municipalities Act, 2010).​
