FAQ - Why Were the Properties Across from Sawmill Bay Rezoned?
How Do I Ever Build Out There Now?

The properties located across Sawmill Bay (Parcels 7-12 Plan 65B11425) were changed from Resort Residential to Future Development. This was done to address concerns that houses could be built while not having access to the rest of the community by road, which is a big problem for emergency vehicles.

The only permitted use on these sites in the 2006 Zoning Bylaw that isn’t present on these sites in the new Zoning Bylaw is a “Single Detached Dwelling”.

This doesn’t mean that these properties are un-developable forever though. In order to develop these properties in the future, Council will consider changes to the Zoning Bylaw when access for emergency vehicles can be addressed.
