New Playground

Planning to Play!
The Ramsey Bay Playground Committee, Northern Municipal Services and the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport have collaborated to increase outdoor recreation opportunities for Ramsey Bay. Please see the FAQs below for more information about the playground project.

Playgrounds-R-Us was selected through a tendering process to design and install the playground and parking area. Construction has now been completed!

A special thank you to Lindsay Kuppenbender, Clarence Rempel and everyone else in the community for their work on getting this project completed!

FAQs

Last updated May 13, 2025. This date does not include edits of a minor nature.

What is the budget?
  • The budget for the design, delivery, site preparation and installation of playground equipment was $120,000 including tax.
  • The budget for the parking area was $37,000 including tax.

Future expansion
  • Future expansion of the playground would be dependent on local fundraising activities and grant opportunities, and would be managed by Northern Municipal Services (NMS).

How will people access the playground? Will there be parking?
  • Access will be from the north end of Beaver Cres. Most traffic is expected to be foot traffic, but there will be a small parking area to accommodate 3-5 vehicles.
  • The public is encouraged to contact NMS with any safety concerns.

How will noise concerns be addressed?
  • There will be a 50' buffer between any property boundary and the lease boundary and roughly an 150'-200' buffer between property boundaries and the edge of the playground area itself. This means that there will be no parking directly behind the properties along Chipmunk Pl. and that the previously cleared area behind Chipmunk Pl. will not be used as a parking area.
  • Other elements that address noise concerns include:
    • The playground access will be located at the north end of Beaver Cres.
    • Trees will only be cleared for the playground area, not the entire lease area.

Who will be responsible for maintenance (equipment safety, weed control, fallen trees, etc.) and liability insurance?
  • NMS will be responsible for playground maintenance. If the public sees an issue they can contact NMS.
  • NMS will carry liability insurance as required by the Ministry of Parks, Culture and Sport.

How can I provide feedback on the playground? Is there a playground committee?
  • There is a local Playground Committee. The Playground Committee is not affiliated with any community association.
  • You can provide feedback to NMS or Playground Committee Chair Lindsay Kuppenbender at [email protected].
